Disclaimer:
While these are currently being used by multiple people including Duck themselves with no issues whatsoever, we do not take any responsibility for the use one might make of these magnets and do not encourage any in-vivo applications. This is biohacking, use responsibly and at your own risk.

About sterilization and heat:
The magnets come individually packaged in an autoclave-ready pouch, they are clean but not sterile.
The Sm2Co17 can tolerate higher temperatures and hence can be autoclaved.
Maximum temperature 138°C. Recommended more than 20 minutes at 121°C.
Do not use:
• Dry heat sterilization
• Radiation sterilization
• Formaldehyde
• Ethylene oxide sterilization
• Plasma sterilization.

About the magnet:
Thanks to an awesome collaboration with biohacker Duck we bring you these titanium encased, Sm2Co17 magnets in two sizes (more being tested) !
Both are axially magnetized meaning the poles are on the flat faces. They are sealed inside a laser-welded Grade 4 titanium case that can last a lifetime. The case is 0.2mm (thick on the top and bottom surfaces and 0.4mm radially. The weld is radial along the side of the magnet but is not visible to the naked eye. The titanium has a rougher aluminum oxide sandblasted side and a polished side, they do not have any impact whatsoever in their use.

About performance:
While Sm2Co17 is not the strongest available magnet type (N52), the extra thin – 0.2mm – case means very little of the overall mass is wasted in non-magnetic casing. Not only does this maximize the amount of magnetic material, making it stronger for its size, but it also minimizes the distance between the surface and the magnet for a stronger pull force.
One of the main reasons for choosing Sm2Co17 is its relatively high heat-tolerance. This allows for the ultra thin titanium case to be laser welded without damaging it and for it to be sterilized using a simple autoclave!
This solves both the difficulties in manufacturing and the ability for the end user to sterilize it at the nearest professional.
