The Long Silver

Time for another legend from the depths. Light is mostly absent under the urban jungle. Only rarely does the sun pierce through the thick darkness, pouring its waterfall of light through a seam in a manhole cover. But not every droplet of light in the abyss is warm and welcoming. The long silvers are monsters only an experienced underground explorer would ever meet. Their millipede-like bodies are confusingly large in the lack of any point of reference. Right above their mandibles where their missing eyes would be lies a bioluminescent protrusion. Similar to a rhinoceros horn but soft and bathed in a blueish glow. Despite the grim appearance, the long silver is a common and pacific creature. But beware! Ancient chambers are said to be filled with hundreds of thousands of long silvers and whoever disturbs them might find themselves trampled by millions of sharp panicked appendages…
